Pictured: Nick doing what it takes to “get the shot.”
Nick has been outdoorsy since his parents shipped him off to his first summer camp at 6-years-old. The experience led him to join the Boy Scouts, where he grew a desire to spend as much time as he could exploring the outdoors, meeting new people, and learn new skills. As a co-creator of an organization that facilitates backpacking adventures, for the past few years Nick has been taking others out of Michigan to explore the west. Attending Saginaw Valley State University, he studied Professional and Technical Writing while playing an active role in his fraternity, eventually graduating with a bachelor’s degree in December 2018.
Most memorable outdoor experience
“Every expedition yields amazing experiences! This became apparent on my first trip to Glacier National Park. This was my first big backpacking trip outside of Michigan, immersing myself in the mountains and the beauty (and challenges) they offer. I learned a lot about myself, expanded my comfort zone, forged my closest friendships, gained a great appreciation for the amazing human connections that exploring the outdoors facilitates. And of course, it was just an absolute blast!”
